Proponents of immigration reform have been fasting for weeks in Washington DC to call attention to their cause. Beginning today, the fast will extend beyond those in Washington DC in the hopes of putting pressure on House Speaker John Boehner to allow the House of Representatives to vote on the immigration reform bill passed by the Senate in July. President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama visited the fasters on Friday, noting that it is time to address our immigration system. Information on the fast is available here.
