The Houston Chronicle posted a piece by former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, now Co-chair of the American Competitiveness Alliance, a coalition focusing on finding solutions to the issues with our current immigration system. Citing a shortage of skilled workers, particularly for positions requiring STEM skills, Gov. Richardson calls on President Obama to take action that will help both the unfortunate children crossing the border and the best and brightest in our schools and workforce. The piece notes that Houston is second only to Silicon Valley in attracting IT, Oil and Gas, and Engineering jobs.
