In recent weeks, over 50,000 undocumented children have been apprehended crossing the border between Mexico and the United States. This ordinance is reportedly an effort to prevent the resources of League City from being stretched too thinly as a result of the housing of undocumented children in the area, but some members of the city council noted that the ordinance contains measures that are illegal and therefore unenforceable.
